It could be any of them. Height, width, depth. It could even be a difference in calculating the volume of the tank. A 10G tank from Walmart only holds 9 gallons of water. Why? They measure the outside, calculate the volume. If the 12 measured inside, and the 14 is measured on the outside, they probably hold the same amount of water.
The biggest difference in the different nano setups are the lights and filtration that comes with them. The 2 gallons doesn't make a whole lot of difference.
