cyano

i hope i spelled that right. im having a small cyano problem in my nano. this started after i changed over the new lights. a csl 80w pc. i have a queen conch that isnt sifting the sand and some nassa snails that move across the sand but thats it. ive been removing it daily when im at work b/c the tank is at work. ive also got a stronger pump for waterflow. any recommendations for other ways to get rid of this stuff?

chemi-clean...follow directions exactly....yes more flow and even less light will help. check phosphates and silicates.

yup, water flow helps a lot with cyno. But with water flow you are hiding the reason cyno is growing in the first place. Check with RobinsonFarm1 said about phosphates and silicates.

I do not beleive cyano is really a problem in moderate amounts. It's basically part of the biologcal chain. As long as it doesn't get to plauge proportaions I wouldn't worry about a little cyano --- I have a little --- no worries :-)

Same here, it is all part of the system, but what I like to do when it becomes unsightly is to take some airline tubing, and suck it off the rocks and sand.
