Clownfish keep dying????? HELP
I have a 29gal biocube 40lbs live rock, clown gobie, lawnmower blenny, 4 hermit crabs. I bought a pair of clownfish and one died in about four days, lfs gave me another it died in about four days. I have one of the original clowns left and it is lying on the bottom and breathing very fast. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? The tank has been set-up for 7 weeks the clown gobie has been in there for all 7 weeks. Everything else is doing fine.

could be something with the tank, but it could also be the supplier. sometimes a brood of unhealthy fish are never going to do well, so you may consider finding another place to obtain replacement clowns (if you're going in that direction). Do you know what species of clownfish you have?

I have 5 n 1 strips and liquid test kit they both are reading about the same. I will try cutting back on the food and see it that helps

I'm woundering if it could be a sick batch of fish. I went back the next day and there was one dead in the tank. My brother also bought on from the same batch and his died in a week. (Ocellaris)

It can be many things. sometimes fish don't make all the moves from one place to the next, sometimes the shipper puts too many fish in the same bag ( happens all the time with clowns) and then the shipping time is longer then expected and the fish get ammonia poising

How long does it normally take for a fish to die of ammonia poisoning?

my rule is never buy from a tank system with lots of dead and or sick fish!!
its just bad mojo!!
but def cut back on food!
if u have clowns in there now wait and see......if they have already died then wait 2 weeks before buying more fish!
and remember when adding fish add one every 2 weeks......or 2 depending if its like a pair of clowns, firefish...ect!

I would wait about 2 to 3 months before adding more clowns...or any fish for that matter...U mentioned a lot of deaths occurred in this relativly small tank....what is left in the water after all this??...who knows....See where I am going with this?
