woohooo my cleaner shrimp has started turning a pretty golden color. when i looked closer i saw what appears to be eggs on its underside along its tail/leg area. maybe ill have grandbabies if everything else in the tank doesnt eat them. hhhmmm what does one feed baby cleaner shrimp?

i had a million little babies from my cleaners , however throughout the month after their birth their numbers slowly declined till now in back to my 2 adults. i did see them eat formula one and spirulina - but basically they where just fatening up for whatever eventually ate them it is really cool when one morning you turn your lights on and everywhere you look there are shrimp

Too neat! I have a ? though - If you put some of those babies in the refugium, will they have a better chance at survival? I'm wanting to get some cleaner shrimp and would like to try to save some of the babies if I have the opportunity.

A refugium would help --- eventually mom will eat them if nothing else does.

if you could catch them you would probabaly have a good chance of raising them, but wait till you see how small and fast they are. When i had them i saw them mainly in the morning under the cover of my green stripe mushrooms, but as soon as the lights turned on they went deep into the rocks. they also would take cover behind the power heads which allowed me to get real close and inspect the mini replicas.

I use a turkey baster to get them and put them in the sump. I do plan on getting a special tank set up for them sometime so I can try and raise them. One thing I need though is a special itty bitty food that would be able to eat. There are many articles out there on raising them. Good luck!
