Another thing about the 'mean tank'. I had a pair of
fire shrimp, that I absolutly fell in love with- you can't beat that paint job anywhere. Anyway, I was told, and it is true, that they do well in pairs.. I'm all about anything that pairs, since my whole obsession started with clownfish. Shirly and Sal were my shrimp, I was thrilled. 3 days after I got them, Sal ate Shirly. Its always in the morning, I wake up, plop down in front of my tank and enjoy it for a few minutes while I'm gaining conscienceness. That morning there was my beloved new friend Sal going thru Shirly like a ear of corn- theres nothing like that terror, fury first thing in the morning. I guess people say they do well in pairs so if one of them gets hungry, theres a nice convenient 40 dollar snack handy. I forgave Sal though, they were my first shrimp and I really enjoyed having him around. He ate out of my hand, we had a bond. About 3 months later, I WATCHED in horror as my horrible, horrible
clarkii clown drug Sal into her anemone. I went in for the rescue as soon as I could, but the damage was done, and Sal was gone the next morning. Nobody I've talked to has ever heard of that happening. I've been consoled that when fish are really healthy and happy they tend to get more aggresive and territorial. Well guess what- I say get sick, get stressed, live without your anemone- see if I care. Stop the CARNAGE!!! So- the 6line is gone, I've got a beat up fridmani pseudochromis cowering back in her cave, a pair of tiny new 'community friendly' oscellaris clowns and I don't miss those a-holes one bit.
