candy cane


my candy cane corals had this web looking thing on them , i thought it was dirt or something , so i syphinoned it out and then i looked back and there it was again, even more this time , what is it doing ? looks like spider webs

its clearish white, kinda like silk, or spider webs

little strands of white clear strings floating above them , and across them ( wish i had a camera), looks like its coming from their mouths ,

It could either be that you have a Vermetid Snail that is casting it's "fishing net" of mucous among the polyp heads (look for a calcerous tube anchored on the coral skeleton - be careful they are razor sharp but otherwise harmless - or it could be that the coral itself is creating mucous trying to grab food.

My CC does the same sometimes I see that mucus when my blenny blows sand on them or when air touches it. As long as they look healthy dont worry about it.
