bright green alge NEED HELP
Hey everyone. I am working on my first nano. My main tank crashed!!! referrelative="t" o:spt="75" coordsize="21600,21600">ath o:connecttype="rect" gradientshapeok="t" o:extrusionok="f">ath>ffice ffice" />My nano has cycled and was well on its way I thought. Over the last few days I have noticed that I'm starting to get this bright green algae that grows rather quickly on the glass, and is covering my LR. If I wipe down the glass you can notice it growing back in as little as an hour. The tank is a 14gal bio-cube. Amoe, nitrite, nitrate, all 0,ph is 8.4, cal is 460. Salinity is 1.024, temp 76-77 Alkalinity I was told is good by the LFS (which seems to be trust worthy) they specialize in reef tanks. I use RO, and the tank has live sand, around 5lb LR, also 4 hermits, 2 emerald grabs, 6 snails, 1 sand sifter star, 1 two inch clown, 1 blenny less than an inch, small group of candy cane and star polyps (both refuse to open) small colony of button polyps and 2 quarter sized mushrooms. The buttons and mush are happy, open and seem healthy. These algae thou makes me wanna pull my hair out what can I do? HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How long have you had the tank up for? Have you lost any livestock? If it is a new tank it is normal to see algae growing throughout the cycle. What are your nitrates at?

nitrates are 0, and the tank is some what new. It has cycled through the diatom phase, diatom algae not visable. I haven't lost any live stock yet, but I am worried about the stars and candy, Been in the tank for week maybe 2 and still not open. The tank has been up and runnin for atleast 6 weeks or so maybe longer.

I am guessing this is film algae, what kind of snails do you have? They would be the only critter in there that would clean the tanks. Ceriths and Nerites are good at this stuff.
