the anenome's tentacles should grasp the food and then it shrivels up to eat it. If you have a clown fish it will help in feeding ur anenome because he takes food and feeds it. so yes they eat meaty foods. i had an anenome that took in fish flakes also.

Hey, and welcome to TRT

Yes, they are able to live off light alone, but intense lighting, vho or pc or mh. If you have less intense then feeding is a necessity.

Unfortunatly no its not enough. You might want to look into getting a pc (power compact aka compact fluorescent) setup. Check out some of the sponsers for trt, a 16" 96watt 50/50 or 2 32watt pc's, something like that; I know, it is really surprising when you start realizing the amount of money that this hobby takes, in the long run you'll be happy with your outcomes. BTW MH stands for metal halide, kind of lights in parking lot lighting; VHO very high output fluorescent lights normally 3 times output of normal bulbs.

Hopefully I didnt confuse you any more, keep asking questions thats what this site is for.

You can run this light, it is pretty low for an anem, do feedings every other day to make sure it stays fed.

more meaty the food, the better; shrimp, squid, and other good quality frozen food.
