Anemone Success?

I have been reading a ton of stuff on anemones and as with all my marine tank readings there is constantly differing opionions and ideas for the right way. Can anybody tell me if they have had success with Anemones in a 12 gallon tank, if so what kind and how long have you had it. Also what kind of lighting do you have for it?. Is there an Anemone that stays smaller for a 12 gallon that is atleast somewhat hardy?, I would like to pair up a common Clown Fish with one ,thier relashionship fasinates me. Thanks for any info in advance - Jason

I dont have a 12 gallon but I do have 2 20's with anems in both. One anem is over 14 months old, the other is coming up on 5 weeks.

BTA (bubble tip anemone) is the way to go, IME. They will stay relatively small. Keep them in at least PC or VHO lighting, or be prepared to do weekly feedings of shrimp, squid, and other meaty chunks.

Also, don't be surprised if your clowns never host with your anem, most are tank bred
and have never even seen one.

What is PC lighting? Do you think the Compact Flores. from JBJ are enough lighting?

PC stands for power compact, also called compact fluorescent. How many watts does the JBJ one put out?

That's fine, but you might want to be doing some bi-weekly feedings, just to make sure it's got plenty of nutrition. If at all possible to get an 18" 96watt pc bulb, that would be the best choice.

I agree with wharyat, BTA is the way to go. I cant keep one on my tank because everytime I get one it suffers the power head death or the overflow death. remember that they move around so becareful of the pump.
