Aiptasia in my 11ga

I had two small aiptasia anemonies starting a life in my 11ga and so i looked for natural biological options for getting rid of it. After reading the hit-or-miss stories about natural predators, i decided to give the peppermint shrimp a chance. I was very adamant about getting theLysmata wurdemanni exactly, and when I did... wow! He's been in my tank for only four days and not only is he getting along fine with my scarlet skunk cleaner shrimp(Lysmata amboinensis), but there is no sign of Aiptasia . I do understand that natural predators to the glass anemonie are hit-or-miss... but this lil guy rocketed a home-run!

They are very friendly lil guys... and as long as you get the true peppermint, you don't have to worry about them with other corals/anemonies (or so i've read).

A great addition to my tank

Cool

I once got a couple of peppermint shrimp for my tank but they died the next day for unknown reasons. I've wanted to try more, but instead I ended up getting a purple reef lobster which I have a feeling would have some compatability issues with them.

If you aiptasia are on the glass or in the sand, you can easily remove them with tweezers....

True, true... these aiptasias were in the rocks, though... so the peppermint shrimp did good things

another method I have used is to seal the aiptasias into the live rock with some super glue, works like a charm.
