Adding LR during cycle?

Under the pressure of a person at a LFS I only bought half of the LR I’m going to be using. I am now regretting that decision and I’m wondering if I can add the other half now? I am in the process of cycling and the tank looks pretty nasty. I have some redslime and other cruddy looking stuff going on. I really don’t want to have the whole cycle happen again when I add the other 8 or so pounds. Any thoughts? BTW I have a 12g Aquapod with a sand bed, about 5-7lbs of LR and a few lbs of base rock. TIA

I would add it now it is going to lengthen the cycle or it will recycle if you add it later

Best to add it and get it over with now. Unless you get very well cured and clean lr later it will just cycle again.
