I have had this 10gallon nano reef set up for the last 3 months and wanted to show some progression pix of it.
10 gallon tank
20 lbs of primium figi liverock
20 lbs of live sand
20-30 Aquaclear hang on the back filter
1 small powerhead
heater (barely needed b/c of the light & house temp - in FLA)
12 in Coralife 18watt lighting
moonlighting
FISH
2 true perc clowns
1 mandrine goby
1
sally lightfoot crab
1 emerald crab
1 orange and purple lobster
1 sea urchin
1 sea cucumber
1 featherduster
1
flame scallop
2 mexican snails
1 hermit crab
CORAL COLONIES
brain coral
hammer coral
bubble coral
yellow star coral
maroon mushrooms
2 other types of star corals
The tank has been doing very well, I have good alge all over the place and everything is thriving. I give the water about a tbl spoon of iodine, alkaline and calcium every other day. I feed the tank cytoplast and flake food every day and throw in some silver fish for the crabs every so often as a treat.
I am going to be making my little 5gallon tank into a FOWLR in the next few weeks and I hope it goes as well as this one has. It was my first try at salt water and I probably spent a total of $700-$900 on everything.
FYI - I used water from my aunts 65 gallon tank, so the cycling process was already done for me, I never had any spikes and used a bit of Special Blend.
DAY 1 - Added LR, Lsand, snails and water

WEEK 1 - Added Star Coral(right) and Mushrooms (left)

WEEK 2 - Added Clowns, Goby, Scallop, Crabs, Featherduster, and 2 unidentified Corals
