3 Compartments on Nano Cube
What do I put in three compartments in the nano cube, I've been told to remove everything, or take some stuff out and put certain stuff in there. Here are some pictures to refer to.

And also when I cycle, do I leave the lights on, or do I keep them off completely, or do I keep them on a certain amount of time a day and what not.

The only thing you want is that chemi-pure or carbon thats all. Do not use the bio-balls! You can run your lights just like you would if you had fish or coral in. I run mine about 11-12 hrs a day (I think thats on the high side).

Maybe carbon and/or phosphate/nitrate remover. And leave the lights on a reg schedule.

Lights on a reg. schedule...but I've found it doesn't need to be as much as when you have corals. You can use carbon, purigen, or even phosban if you want to. Don't use anything that will provide any additional biofiltration-it will be incomplete and increase your nitrate levels. Use the chambers as a fuge, isn't that what most people do? Put small pieces of LR in there...helps with the right filtration, and makes more 'pods!

wouldn't a person still want the sponge/mesh type of media for skimming off the top when the water moves back?

That is nothing on the back of the tank...Its just a water bottle that looks like its on the back...Where should the chemi-pure go in, liek what compartment, first or 2nd...and if I put LR in there which compartment does that go in...?

I think, I'll go with 1 songe in the first compartment, with a bag of chemi-pure, then crushed live rock in the 2nd compartment, then the heater, temp probe, and pump in the 3rd...That sound good?

So the 1 sponge won't be to much, the stock uses 3 sponges, I'm thinking of just using that 1 smaller sponge to take out the large particles out of the water, before it gets to the chemi-pure and LR.

I pretty much have the same setup
Compartment 1: I bag of Chemi-pure sandwiched between 1 sponge (cut in half). Sponges are rinsed 2x a week during water changes. Chemi-pure and sponges are changed monthly.
Compartment 2: Live Rock and an airstone (the water seemed pretty stagnant in the filter area, the addition of the airstone provided an easy solution to add movement to the water back there).
Compartment 3: Heater and stock pump.
