~2G Nano Pump Suggestions

I am playing with the idea of setting up a ~2G nano for my office at work. I have a 2 or 2.2G hex acrylic tank that used to be my wife's goldfish execution chamber. The tank originally came with an undergravel filter (long gone) and a 15 watt light. Obviously for any marine tank waterflow is important. Yet in looking at power heads the flow rates on even the smallest units would be astronomical for this little tank. Considering the hex shape I feel even the smallest power heads would make this tank look like a toilet flushing. What would be recommended for a descent but controlled water flow? I remember seeing some micro power filters a while back, but the hood would not be compatible with such an item.

Also, what putting one of those 10W full spectrum flourescent retrofit bulbs in the hood? This comes up to 5W per gallon of light in what I believe is a PC bulb. For a tank that is probably 10" tall is this sufficient for something like a zoo or mushroom? It doesn't seem like much light, but this isn't much of a tank either.

I've seen a couple 2-5g nanos using the Azoo Palm Filter. But like you said, dunno if it would work with your hood.

you really dont have to have a filter on a tank that small. just have some good live rock and add a powerhead suction cupped under the water for flow.
once or twice a week do a small water change and youll be set.
im working on the same thing for my office with a 1.5 gal for some zoos and shrooms.

One of the problems with pico-sized nano tanks is that most powerheads either have too much flow, take up too much room, add too much heat, or any/all of the above. There's a lot of people that use external power filters on nanos solely to increase the tank's flow rate (removing the mechanical/chemical/biological filtration media from the power filter).

I have recently bought a small power head that is perfect for my 5g nano tank. I'm in Australia (we use 240volts) but just to let you know they're around.
It's made in China by Mozoo. It has max flow of 320 l/h but is variable so you can adjust to very little flow. It's about 2"x1.5"x2". Hope this helps
