25 Gallon Tank

Does a 25 Gallon Reef Tank qualify as a nano tank? I'm new to reef tanks and am excited to be part of all the discussions but don't want to offend.

usually its 20 and less, but 25 is pretty close, the key will be not to overstock as far as fish go...., dont worry about jumping in to talk they're leniant with everyone except my brother

go ahead with the 25...it's maintenance will be more along the lines of a nano, but you can still use some of the techniques of a larger tank, like dosing kalk and running a skimmer...

YOU SOB!!!!! 25 GALLONS IS SO NOT A NANO!!!! GET THE HECK OUT OF THESE FORUMS! J/K 25 sounds like a nano to me. I dont think I've seen a 25, you got any pics? Is it just wider or taller than a 20?

groino --- if you have not made the tank yet try to mod it.

place a divider to split the tank into two chambers --- a filter chamber and a show chamber. that way you split the tank 5 - 10 gallon for filter and 15-20 for show (now it's a nano!). You can hide a small skimmer (or DIY one) there and a DSB (fill half that chamber with aragonite!) so only LR and a shallow sand bed can be seen in the show chamber.

good luck.
