20g nano

I am going to switch out my tanks this weekend, I have a 75g SW tank, and a 20g fw tank. we are going to convert the 20 to sw, and the 75 to FW for my cichlid. I have posted in the general discussion forum, but is there any advice from the Nano guys to help the transition as smooth as possible?

Thanks

Go slowly, and transfer slowly. I'm doing something similar...45 gallon to 10 gallon. Just keep up on the maintenance with the smaller tanks. Water changes are essential.

I made the change 2 weekends ago. Everything is going fine. I did a 20% water change yesterday and will to another one in a couple of weeks. I Did notice some aptasia last night, so I wasn't planning on adding any new inhabitants, but I now feel that a cb shrimp is in order. Other than that, Nothing will be added for at least a couple more months, and the tank looks really good.

Thanks.

Well, if you have the patience, go for it! But..I meant go slowly like transfer stuff over the course of a week and let it stabilize for maybe a month, if you're restrained enough. I plan on moving over the next week, and then just watching how everything goes from there.

I was basically forced into changing all at once, as the 20g used to be home for my cichlid, now he lives in the 75. The clown is really happy in his new home, and except for finding the aptasia, it was a seamless transition. I only put about 1 gallon of the origional (sp) salt water into the new setup, but I used some of the substrate and all of the rockwork. I was somewhat concerned about putting my snails into shock, but they all look healthy. I have not been skimming, just doing frequent water changes.

I just want to take it slow this time so I don't run into problems again.
