12 Gal Nanocube

Hello all,

just ordered my first Nano. I have been keeping a 100 gal, and a 55 gal reef for the last couple of years. Now want to venture into the smaller systems. I was wondering if everyone used the standard pumps that come with the system or purchase a higher volume pump. Also wanted to know anyone has used the chambers for a refurgem. Thanks for any help.

Jbj Nano

I just purchased my first JBJ -12 nano a few weeks ago, and finally got it up and running last night. I did have a problem intially with a small leak coming from the bottom seal. I just ran a bead of aquarium sealer around the bottom (underneath filled the gap between the plastic and glass). That seemed to fix the problem. I also did the same with a nano 6 I just picked up. I have yet to set that one up yet.

In regards to the nano cube itself. I did upgrade the powerhead, the stock one seemed quite weak. I have heard of people using the back for a reefgium but it looks a little tight to me.

You can check out nanotuners.com they have alot of neat upgrades.

Hope this helps.

I put a maxi-jet 900 in mine, but with the stock filters it was pushing out water faster than it could pull it in, resulting in it spraying bubbles into the tank. I took out 2 of the filters in the first chamber, and took out all of the ceramics and bio balls from the 2nd and added 2 carbon bags instead. That fixed the bubble problem and my water stays clear with a good current.
