whats wrong with this clam?


I bought these two a day apart at the same fish store the purple one has great mantle extension and the other just sits there it does react to light. what should I do? I've had them for about 5 months they are under 2 150w metal halides 10 hours a day and 4 pcs 14 hours a day. 65 gallon 20 gal sump

bleached. take a look at the bottom of the clam make sure no pyramidellid snails. how old are ur bulbs?

the bulbs are only 2 months old. and no snails do I need to wait untll night to check? the one in question was a beautiful pink when I got it.

You know, though it could be something wrong, or it could just be the difference between clams. Often times different clams look very different, even if they are from the same parents.

Does it have a ring of white around the shell right below the mantle (New growth)?

Did you check at night for the Pyrmyd snails that clownut mentioned?

Both clams are Croseas, they would both really like you if you placed them in the rockwork as they are rock boaring clams and like to have their base firmly attached where they can dig a dip and protect their byasal gland.

These are also one of the highest light clams and getting them closer to the lamps couldn't hurt.

He looks like hes sick to me check for anything on him as mentioned
maybe he was getting to much light and is bleaching,whiskey is right get then up on the rocks if you can.Can be caused by extreme temp change and high temps,also check your Nitrates clams like some in the water low Nitrogen can cause that also.

there is no white ring under the mantle on the one in question. I will move them both up on the rocks. and any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated, I want to save this clam.
