They filter out things like phyto that are loaded with phosphate, great for your tank, they have also been showen to take nitrate directally out of the water colum.

Well, your skimmer will do much better than a clam will at reducing algae, but it can't hurt

Water changes often with good ro/di water and lots of clams = no nitrates

OK may pet supply company dont have any clams right now, they have been out for about a month he said. But when the get more i will get them if i can afford them. My store like pricey stuff, but its good stuff!

What type of lighting do you have?
Croceas and maximas will need a very strong fluo arrangment or better yet MH.

I have 4 flourcents reg 40 watts. I know its not considerd strong light. I have mirrors on top to reflect the light back down. I have 2 Actinic spectrums and 2 "high intensity" Day light bulbs. I have a Hammer Head coral, Leather Anemtiy a culps of shrooms and a blue ricodia
Keep in mind these pics are old. With my old bulb set up and with a cam corder wich made most pics look white. I used an actual didgy cammer for one pic and it should be eay to spot.
