squamosa with sps!

last night when my moonlites were on, i noticed 2 spots that lit up on my squamosa clam. today i looked at the clam closely and discovered 2 sps corals growing on the side of my clam. i can wait to see how this is going to turn out! this also give me an idea of trying to grow some other sps colonies, like a purple or orange caps on the side of my other clams!

Just watch the clam(s) carefully. In some cases, if any foreign object attaches to the shell (inside or out) or if there is damage to the shell in any way, the clam will try to "encase" it or surround it in calcium carbonate. This could cause a disfiguration of the shell. Not that it is truly harmful to the clam, but who knows?

I know in the wild, tridacna gigas get covered in large coral, gorgonian, and sponge colonies.
