Something you don't want!

Sometimes it's nice to see what you should look for and NOT want, lol. This is a pic of those nasty pyramid snails nest! Hope you don't come across it, but if so, it comes off easy with a toothbrush! The sack is near the top of the clam, looks a light blue in color. The darker blue at the bottom I believe is a sponge...anyway a pest to enjoy in a picture

Good Pic Viv, thanks for posting that, it gives people buying a new clam an idea of what to look for.

Sorry you have them though, do you have any astrea snails? If so they eat those too

I heard that the 6 line wrase and the cleaner shrimp will eat them. True or not?

i have had good luck with a yellow "coris" wrasse. also known as a canary wrasse Halichoeres chrysus.

IME- pyramid snails do not seem to bother a clam once it gets bigger than about 5" it is the smaller clams that they really seem to do damage to. it is either that or they do not do much damage to derasa's and squammies, but really do a number on croceas, and maximas.
