Clam's are right up ther with SPS standard's of keeping, they like nice clean water and strong Mh light is good for them, small one's will require DT's to be feed to them quite often. What's your setup?

Hi
Yes water quality is important and calcium is important too.Alot of the clams ,do need Mh but not all!I have Pc lighting and have two clams and I love them, they help filter your water and if you get one bigger then4" you don't have to hand feed them!

No they really love the Phyto, just remember if you have strong Mh lights and buy one 3" and over you dont need to feed anything, just the small one's need it because of there small mantle's.

I dont, but dont see why it would hurt so go for it,just remember it pollutes the tank with pho and Nitrates.

Clean water? why would they want clean water if they filter feed (in addition to photosynthesis)?

They filter feed on DTS and suck up Nitrates not dirt or detritus.

HI!
I heard that if a clam dies in the tank it instantly pollutes the tank and pretty much kills everything in it. Is this true?

I certainly hope not, cause I would love to have a nice clam or 2 in my 55g.

Thanks
Kandy
