Rip up a clam?

My clam does have pyramid snails, I picked off 5 last night. The shell's are darker than ones I've seen in post but are approx 1 mm. and only been seen on the clam. Other post have recomended taking out the clam to check the foot and fresh water dip's. I placed the crocea direct on the live sand substrate as per the LFS, Now I've found they need to be on tile of other surface. It has adheared to the tank bottom and I can see the foot through the the bottom looking under the stand. I tried to gently remove it to inspect but was unsure about damaging the tissue. My substrate is only a few inches deep so I removed all of it around the clam to get a better look for snail's. Haven't seen any more snail's but I inspect constantly; my wife think's I'm nut's. Can I remove it without damage or is it needed? How long after I don't see snails can I be sure it's safe or is it never safe? Sorry for the long tread for a simple question

I would remove it carefully with a razor blade and get it up on the rockwork
if the snails are on the clam the tank has them also.

If it binds to the rock work can I then remove it to check the foot for pyramid's, or do pyramids not habitat the rocks?

They can get to it wherever you put it ,Having it in the rock work makes it harder for them to get to it.If you leave it in the sand they will kill it or weaken it badly.Try putting a small piece of shell under it so it attaches to the shell then you can easily remove it later when you want to check for snails.
