pinched mantle treated with fresh water dip?

I got this squamosa about a week ago and yesterday the mantle started to show signs of pinched mantle disease. I did a 30 minute fresh water dip as sugested here http://www.reefkeeping.com/issues/2006-09/jf/index.php Clam stayed closed for about 5 minutes after putting it back in the tank. (temp and pH of fresh water was very colse to salt water, salt pH 8.4 fresh water 8.5 I floated a bag in my sump to equalize temp) The clam started to slowly open over several hours and was looking better than it did before the dip.

Anyone know what to expect, should the pinched mantle go away right after the dip, will it take a while? Just curious how to tell if it worked. Here is the clam before the dip

I dipped mine about 5 times but only for 60 seconds or so. I never thought 30 minutes would be ok.....

Casey, thet is the link that I posted above and where I got the treatment from. I have 4 croceas, 2 have been in there for 1-2 years. The other 2 have been in there for about a month and are only about 1.5" long. I also have a derasa that I have had for about 3 years. All other clams are healthy and looking good. I have inspected all clams and there are no pyramidal snails. Did you do the same treatment as in the article or shorter dips?

Butch, thanks for the input.

thanks I will watch it today and see if it needs another dip tomorrow. With succesful treatment does the mantle normally fully extend at the edges immediately?
