If you don't think it's going to live,.. take my advice and maybe,.. just maybe,.. it might pull through.

My clam that died,.. then took out the one next to it,.. both died in tank and I didn't have any problem from it. This was in my 125G DSB, SPS tank.

There is nothing wrong with GFO. you just need top be careful with it. at least there is real science behind it.

To be sure, there very well could be, but that sales pitch I just read is a crock of you know what and im not aware of anything that has the ability to neutralize phosphates, which is what that stuff is claiming. GFO removes them, as does skimming, cooking your rock and siphoning your sand

I would try to save it as whiskey says. if it still reacts then it isnt dead. when it stops reacting them remove it so it doesnt rot

Your call,.. but if it were me I would risk having it die in the tank for the slim chance at saving it.

I do too. I had this clam for about a month in moderatelly dirty water under old pc bulbs while I set my new tank up because it caught my eye at the fish store. It has gone through heck.

lol. Too bad they dont mention where exactly the phosphate goes. Poofa.......it just disappears.
So what, Fly, you don't think it works? Always the cynic...

I love the "proprietary phosphate removers."

According to the link provided, that stuff binds "free" phosphate into a particulate form. Problem is, the particulate form stays in the water and clams are filter feeders. So your clam is concentrating this unknown chemical in it's tissue. GFO would be safer because you dump it after you use it. I would recommend a water change, and good luck with the clam.

It was dumb to try this stuff. Everything I have done in this hobby, I've done the way it's recommended. Long cycle, big skimmer, wait, be patient, don't over stock, etc... I'm not sure what made me wanna take this shortcut rather than doing more water changes and using phosban or something like that.
