My clam is broken

I went into the LFS today and found a 3 inch gold maxima. Two of the "scallop" parts of its shell where the mantle comes out have fallen back into the shell. I had a similar problem with a squamosa and the mantle on that one was falling in on both sides. Needless to say that I was told a trick and it has worked on all my clams so far. This thing, the maxima, I dont know though. I cant even see the mantle really. The thing is still EXTREMEMLY responsive when it comes to movement and is not gaping at all. I purchased it with the understanding that all that (the responsiveness and gaping) means nothing. They are totally seperate afflictions. Anyways, this guy was keeping it under LOW Pc wattage and he sold it to me for cost $13.00 which I figure atleast it stands a better chance in my tank with 400 watts of HQI lighting and I feed once a day.

Pic? How big? And why would you purchase a non-healthy specimen?

To try to help it. A clam under PC can be ok but a clam under MH will do very good. $13 is worth it to try to help it.

I dont have a pic because I am waiting for my camera to be repaired. The clam was MAYBE 3 inches long. Also pinched mantle or mantle falling in - I have had about a 98% success rate at fixing those problems. It was a beautifull gold maxima. Needless to say that it was under the LFS light of about 200 watts of PC. So I knew that with my lighting it stood a better chance.
