lighting needs?

Would a 96watt pc be enough light for a clam in a 12gallon tank? The depth of the tank is about 15".

in a 12g taank id be concerned about being able to keep the water quality/stabiliy for a clam. but for a squamosa or derasa yes it will be fine,,,until they outgrow the tank, and that will be quickly.

I have a 15 gallon nano tank with 2*55W PC on good reflectors (that is very important when talking about PC bulbs) and I had a derassa and gigas in there until they got to big for the tank.

What kind of 96W (power-quad or standard), what kind of reflector (pic would help) how far off the water, how often do you replace the bulb and what are the dimensions of your tank?

I have a funny feeling that you might be cutting it close for derassa and Gigas, that is why all the questions. Crosea and Maxima would definitely not have enough light IMHO.

Thanks,
Whiskey

alright its the 24 gal aquapoad with sunpaq lighting. As for the depth I can work with that. Is there a good place to go to look at clams right now. Any pics of Gigas? Bulbs are only a few months old.

I ended up getting a 70w double end mh pendant. I have posted pix in the nano forum. My live rock comes in soon and I will be hopefully adding a clam within a month or so.
