lighting

I have 2 large croceas and 2 small maximas in a 60 g reef tank. my lighting consists of 192w pc's and 78w t5's. is this sufficient lighting for clams and sps(thinking about doing sps on top portion with clams)? they've been there for 2 months and seems to be doing well

Could you give us more detail on the reflectors used for both fixtures, the dimentions of the tank, and the placement of the clams? Also do they all have a brite white rim around the top of the shell right below the mantle?

Thanks,
Whiskey

Oh, sorry, almost forgot, also please include how old the bulbs are right now, how long you wait to replace them, and how far the bulbs are off the tank's surface.

Thanks,
Whiskey

i'll get back to you about the clam's surface...but the pc is sitting on the brace of the tank, in the middle, and the t5's are on a bracket, problably 2-3 inches above the the wooden brace, and behind the pc'. pc is a current usa 36 inch dual sattelite(2 atinics96w,and 2 daylight96w), and the t5's are oddysea 40 inch single sattelite,1 atinic34w, and 1 daylight34w). also in the tank is a leather coral, a star polyps, and 3 lyretail anthias. so that's about 270w of total lighting

You mean one 96W atinic, and one 96W Daylight right?

You don't have good reflectors on any of it either,.....

I don't think they will be happy. I'm not saying they won't live for sure, but I wouldn't try it. If it were me I would return those clams for some of the lower light speices for sure. I am especially worried about the croseas.

Sorry,
Whiskey
