do you have to have metal halides for clams? Power compact's just wont do, right?

Derasa clams do fine under PC's but the others (croceas, maximas, gigas and squamosas) need the more intense light.

whats the life span on this guys and what kind or light do they need ??? i lovem and allways have done hear ive seen sooo many differnet looking one ! allways wonted to try one but i dident think my little reef 37 gal with power compacts would be enought so i never did i even saw one one time that was the size of 2 quarters !! blue !!
