Have you had any successful breeding with them spawning like that? Or does all of your filtration remove it from the water column too swiftly?

That would be really sweet if you were able to get some baby clams from that spawning. Although I have no idea how that part of things even works for a clam.

Yeah but do they lay eggs? Or does each sex release at the same time of spawning and they mix and settle on rocks somewhere and start to grow? Or does the mommy clam give live birth to little replicas of herself?
That is the kind of stuff I am wondering about.

From everything I have read about it, they free float. Much like flowers being pollenated. So its a hit-or-miss as to whether they meet or not. Then they would be on there own.

A lot of eggs & sperm are released into the water, some of the eggs are fertilized and hatch.
The "clam" then becomes part of the planktonic mass till their shell forms. They then get to heavy to be free floating, drop to the ocean floor, attach, and continue to grow. They reach maturity and it happens all over again.
That's the quick and dirty explanation.

My clammy!
I bought my clam too soon... last LR put in the tank on April 27th. However, my tank has TampaBaySaltwater LR and LS so I do think its stability is ahead of the game. My params have been very stable since the beginning of the tank on April 21. No ammonia spike. I've done only two water changes since setup because everything looked so stable param-wise. Enough of excuses!
I have a beautiful crocea that's between 3.5 and 4"that I ordered from Pacific East Aquaculture. I have diy 6x39w Sunlight Supply Tek T5 HO with individual reflectors (thanks, Whiskey!).
Clammy is placed about 11" under the lights on the rocks at the top of the tank. So far he's looking pretty darn happy! So, I'm happy. I felt pretty guilty after he arrived because I knew I was doing the wrong thing.
Without further ado, here's Clammy!
In his corral when he first got here; I used a large piece of pvc and glued one edge to the rock so he wouldn't fall. He attached by the second day. I left the corral on for a week to be safe.
And here he is just recently
