is this happy as a clam


could anyone tell me what type of clam this is ? and dose he look happy

I'm not sure how well they do on their side like that, and I'm not expert but it dose not look terrible, I have seen some bad ones, I don't know how to tell an ok clam from a great clam..

that is an electric crocea clam...I've kept clams for years. What and how much lighting do you have on him? They like intense lighting, and are primarily photosynthetic, but do like an occasional blast of phytoplankton.

Your clam looks happy, as his mantle is extended nicely, and well colored. I would however tip him upright, so his mantle doesn't touch the sand, and he then will also get the full benefit of overhead lights. He will need moderate waterflow around him as well. Otherwise, Looks good!!

i will stand him up.
his mantle is a bit retracted do to the flash from my first attempt to get a good photo
he's under a 600wats MH and 2 HO 150watt t5's
