I want a clam

Ok so i have a 72 gallon tank that has softies, SPS, and LPS corals in it right now. I want to get a clam that has a lot of color in it. I have a 72 gallon bow front with 4x110 watt VHO lighting.

So what kind of clams that have nice color will do well in my tank

Nice Kelli!

Tim all the time we spend chatting and you forgot about the FAQ? I think I need to fire my advertising staff.

If I were you I would start with a Derassa. I would not put any Crosea, or maxima in that tank. Squmosa and Gigas are two other options but I think for a variaty of reasons a 3 inch plus Derassa is the perfect first clam.

Keep an eye on your CA/ALK though

Question is there an easy way to tell at a LFS the difference between clams?? I'm no expert and they are all in the same tank and I want to know how I can make sure I get the Derassa over a Crosea?

There is a section in the FAQ about Clam ID, it will tell you some of the differences between the clams, this will help you tell them apart.
