how long for a clam to acclimate?

I have had my clam for about a week and it seems it doesnt open up that much. not that I really know how much it opens though. it might open up about 3/4 of an inch and its about 4".
should I be feeding him and if so, how do I feed a clam?

is this the Crocea?...if so 4" I think is big enough not to feed. but mabey hes on the cusp. Some people put them in a bowl w/tank water and feed them that way but if hes not looking so good I wouldnt try to move him out of the tank, especially if hes attached to rock.
what are your parameters...calcium, alk,ph....ect ...and what is your lighting and how close to the lights is he. They like bright light. if he is low and not attached to anything try moving him up.

I would put a page out for Casey...he seems to know a lot about clams. start a new thread "paging Casey". If the clam is sick they can turn quick sometimes.Good luck and I will tag along on youre new thread

my PH is 8.2 salt 1.023 i dont know the alk. i have the dual 96w actinics and 1 150w 10k halide. he was about 9" from the top. I have a 65gallon tank. I will get a pic of him tonight or tomorrow and post it. I moved him to the other side of the tank today. when I first got him he was attached to the rock but he let go all week.
