Hopping Clam

why does my squamie hop around at night? it stays perfectly put all day long. then at night it gets restless. a 6" squamie hopping around on a BB glass tank makes a heck of a racket.

is there something it is trying to do that i can help it do? have not noticed the other clams doing this, but they are all up on the rocks.

is this just a nightime ritual for clams?

Any chance it's being irritated by something?

i have looked and removed some pyramid snails. i check daily for them, and have not found any the last couple of days. i actually look when the tank is dark, and pull the clam near the surface and really give it a good looking over. what else could be irritating it?

do clams sit still at night? i will try and observe the others a little more closely. just wondering if it is normal and it is just the fact that the clam is on the glass and makes a huge racket that i actually notice it moving.

as a side note, do bumblebee snail eat pyramid snails? there has been one on the shell of the clam for a while now.

G my clams do not move at night so I asume it is not normal,My opinion on bumble bee snails is they are bad I threw all of mine out if they dont get enough food they will go after clam mantles I have seen it,I dont consider them reefsafe no matter what the books say.

I had a squasoma clam that moved alot in the sand. I think a bristle worm may have been bothering it. I would find a flat piece of LR and see if he stays still for the night. Johnny
