dying clam at the LFS?? :(

I was at the LFS last night and there was a Crocea clam for sale, but I was told it was dying because it wasnt under the right lighting. there was actually no coloratin on the side of it... it was white. I asked him if he would take half price for it and he said yes but he told me it wasnt a good idea since he thought it was dying. will it get its color back if he is under the right light and maybe be normal?
