Derassa on the way

Well my annual bonus has come and gone and my tanks are more populated, better circulated and so on. I decided to venture into clamdom. I ordered a Derassa from the Doctors and now I am getting paranoid. The system is mature (4yr) and params steady for so long I only test when something looks off. I am worried that 150 MH light might not be enough. The position of the clam will be directly under the MH bulb. The clam perch is aprox 9 inches under the surface and the light fixture hangs about 9 inches above the surface. I feed on the heavy side, skim wet, run UV/carbon and am redesigning the sump system to hold about 10 more gallons, reduce heat transfer (pumps currently submerged) and installing a 24/7 or reverse lit fuge. Substrate is a 2" plenum w/ 2" CC bottom layer & 6" upper layer. Maybe I just need somebody a tad more versed in clam husbandry to tell me I'll be OK.

He's here, acclimated, in the tank and seems happy. He's open and exposing his mantle and extremely reactive. I acclimated him over 4 hours. I think I am already inlove with this little bugger.

He's a baby. 3.5-4" at most. For now he'll perch in the rock work in a saddle I made just for it. I hope to be in a bigger house befor this time next year. And a 360+ in wall tank soo to follow. So his future size isn't a big concern. Pics when mama get's home and futzes around with the camera.

my derasa has tripled in size in just under a year and it is around 10 inches under 150w mh's so i think it should do just fine.
