derasa growth

i purchased my derasa 2 months ago and it was around 4" now it is around 6".
i did not realize how fast these things can grow
especially since it is like 8" under only a 150W MH

Derasa's can definately grow quickly and get pretty big. Derasa's are a low light clam and will do fine under pc or VHO lighting, so the 150W MH is in no way going to stunt its growth. As long as calcium levels are maintained at appropriate levels (around 400-450ppm) you should see fast growth.

I agree with Casey, as long as you replace your bulbs at the proper time, keep the MH a resanable distance from the waters surface (like 6 inches from the center of the bulb to the water surface) and have the clam high in the water colum you should be fine.

I wouldn't worry, but start looking for a new home for your big D. I am sure some one with a large tank will love it! Give them enough time to rework their aquascaping to fit it.
