Crocea lighting for a 29...

What's the budget/best answer for a little tank like the 29?

175 or 250w of 10K MH? or 6500k? 400w is out of the question. We're talking 18" of total tank height and the clam would be up on some rock.

The 29 is currently a fowlr that will all be moved into the 75. Since the 75 has a large sump that will be really big later on, I'm thinking about drilling the 29 and turning it into a "clamfugium".

Would I be better off hunting down a 40 long or somesuch for the lower height and more room to add other clams later?

Budget-minded suggestions would be most appreciated. Maybe a couple of those LOA 6500K floodlights or a single of that big honking 100w fixture they have? I had some macro in a bucket that just loves the 65w model.

Any thoughts?

Dan

Personally I would never go to a 175 again. For the money I would get the 250 10k.

Wow! Great Deals! Thanks very much for hunting those down. Sure can't beat roughly $100 turn key.

Won't I need a UV shield for these? Or is that not a factor with clams?

Thanks!

Excellent!

So I'm just looking at a $50-60 bulb every six months, right? Aren't the mogul-based bulbs slightly cheaper as well?

Yup, Most last 9 months but it doesn't hurt to change it in 6 months if you can.
