Crocea issues?

I've had a nice crocea for 2 years now, but recently 1/2 of it's mantle has been pulled in. It looked like there was a nassarius snail that was caught checking it out and got pinched. I pulled it out but it hasn't recovered in 3 days. I wondered if it got nipped by the snail and infected. I noted there were some of the small white starfish that were just inside the shell this morning (the normally harmless ones). It has not completely died (YET)...Should I do a FW dip to get rid of the starfish, don't want to lose him.
thanks for any ideas.

No freshwater dip. This will certainly kill the clam.

Did the snail happen to look like this? http://www.reefland.com/rho/2006/05/...lid_snails.php

If so, these are parasitic snails that can kill the clam if in great enough numbers. Six-line wrasses and a few other inhabitants have been known to control these snails. If you find any more of these snails, remove all you can, there will be a large concentration around the base.

Or there may be no problems at all and it could come out of it. Usually (especially after 2 years of captive life) the clams won't be to bothered by flow, shadows, or even snails and hermits brushing up against their mantle.

The starfish inside the shell concerns me a bit, since they may be seeing the clam as a food source which would indicated the clam is dying.

Pics would be great, that may be able to answer quite a few questions.

I'm quite sure they aren't pyramid snails...these were nassirous (sp)snails. I'd read in another forum a few years ago that fw dip helped cure for the snails (or pinched mantle?)...The starfish are my major concern too.
