color up?

I just picked up a 4" deresa clam. It is really brown, with purple on the edge of the mantle. It was under MH lighting, but the tank sucked (at the LFS)
Any comments on whether it will color up, or is that what it is going to look like forever?
-Oh it does have some gold splotches in the brown.
