I kept some croceas in a 15 gallon with 166 watts of PC light...the clams were about 6-8" from the lights, and they did well...I recently upgraded my tank to a larger square 45 gallon (24*24*18), with a 250 watt HQI....The clams are doing just as well as they had been doing....but they seem to be coloring up more, but they're growing at about the same speed...I mean, most clams need Metal Halide, but with a VERY specialized tank(shallow tank, lots of PC's or VHO's..), you can do it...but it would be hard to do PC's for clams with such a big tank.

My squamosa in my 29G has grown some under my 130 W PC lighting... he is only six inches away from the light though.... I noticed it looks like he has 1/4" inch of new shell growth..

Casey.. I am getting ready to purchase a 150W MH pendant for my tank to replaced my current lighting... I have some greens stary polyps and green sinularia, squamosa kinda middle of the tank.. most everything else is on the bottom..

I plan on making the light 6" away from the day so there won't be additional heating of my water...

Do you think my corals will do fine and flourish better in this new lighting..
