clams natural glue


Does anyone know if its ok to move your maxima once it has glued itself to the bottom of the tank - i did and it tore some white threads excreted from the bottom of the clam- i did this ten minutes ago and i hope ididnt just give my beauty a death sentance

thats not a secretion its more of a foot, and if you "cut" it low leaving alot left it will probally be ok (still not recomended), if you just ripped it off, ehhhh, see how it goes, PM Casey or wait till he shows up hes the guru on clams around here

ok i have an update when my actinics clicked on this morning my maxima was fully extending after 15 min so i think she may be alright. in the future if it fixes itself in a location i dont like how do i move it? maybe carefully slice the threads with a razor?

see if you can get its foot to attach to a small rock, then you can just move the rock...., thats what I did

i didnt think it was a foot- thanks for the info. well its been a couple days now and still no consequences to my actions my maxima is fully open and looking great as ever pheww

You can cut the threads but be careful and cut closest to rock as possible.
