Clams - in a bare bottom

We have 3 clams and have had them on the bottom in the DSB and they were attached to a flat piece of rock, ea it's own. Several weeks ago, I remover the DSB and placed them on the glass. 2 out 3 stayed up-right and the 3rd toppled over, one was starting to attach to the glass and are letting go of their rock. Wife suggested that I use PVC to place under them - saw it at a LFS.

It there any short/long term negative effect on them in this position? Shouuld I place them on another rock and prop them up on the bottom - again?

clams = coreca and 2 maximas under the center brace, 18" down from the saki's

They are sitting up in PVC rings, the main concern is that the clams like to attach to something.
