Clam tank question.

ok this my show my ignorance with clams but bear with me.if you wanted to do a clam tank, how would you keep the nitrates up. i have heard that clams feed on the nitrates (whether or not it is truely the nitrates i am hoping to also find this out) in the water column. if there are enough clams how does one keep the nitrates high enough. i would assume turn off any skimming. would you also add a wet dry with bio-balls to help after the tank has become clam populated.

is any of this making any sense.

Ammonium sulfate additions were used in one study, aquaculture effluent in another. Pretty much, anything that provides inorganic nitrogen.

Increased bioload. That simple. Add more corals and fish. Or more nitrates with no bioload increase? Use bioballs.
