Clam or a scalop...

I bought what was labled as a pulsing scallop.. It is like a clam but with red flesh and tenticals, when observed it shoots blue looking lines through it self. If any one has one could the post a pic and tell me about it. They are very interesting,, looks as if lighting was shooting though it.

electric scallop. plankton feeder, likes flow, not a light lover, will move itself till it finds a spot it likes and will stay there.

Not to be a pessimist or anything.....but they seldom live more than 6 months in our aquariums. The wither away and die.

Ive killed two of them myself. I did get the second one to live twice as long as the first by target feeding phyto....it made it about 7 months

Gorgeous creatures although they really should stay in the ocean. Technically i believe the flashing ones are a file clam and not really a scallop. I could be wrong...i remember reading that somewhere

yeah I've heard that too bill but they are such awesome creatures. I'm a huge fan of mine. I hope I can convince it to stay for a while. He's been in the same spot, open and happy for about 2 months now. we've had him for about 4

Thats defiantly it in the pic, I will target feed him more. He prefers his hideaway under some plants on live rock. He opens up huge, hopefully it doesn't eat fish . Look for a pic later.

Yeah, a beautiful bivalve but very hard to keep alive long term. Kind of like the mandarin goby in that respect - beautiful, popular, easily found, but extremely difficult to keep alive for long.
