Clam getting too big?
Hello,
Just wondering - I have a 120g reef that is about 4 years old. One clam (Derasa) is just getting huge (see pic). I have noted that it is starting to 'gape' a bit. Still seems healthy, still growing like mad, still reacts to touch or light changes, but can it outgrow this tank? When should I worry about moving it / donating it to someone with a larger tank?
Thanks
Pat

i have a 7-8 inch derasa now. I know he will get as big as yours. I maintain calc at 420-430 and alk at 10dkh. I would like it to get big like that but looks like it could be an issue too

I've seens folks pay hundreds of dollars for clams that size, so there may be a market if you ever chose to give it up.

That is one nice clam. That'd be worth getting a new bigger tank just to keep.

He looks fine,.. I wouldn't worry about him. My Derassa got to be about 12" and he gaped a bit like that too.
Great looking clam!
