Wiskey great Job!!! "
"-Squamosa, Derasa and Gigas prefer being in the sand, however I have been successful with keeping all but Squamosa (never tried) on the glass bottom of my tank and they were plenty happy."
Wiskey , I keep my Squamosa on the bottom of tank BB sitting right on the acylic and it hads been doing very well for a good 7 or 8 months, One of my best growing clams .

Out of the 5 clams that I keep The best growing one seems to be my blue spot durasa, this clam stays on the sand bed. I have a squamosa that prefers the rocks, if I put it on the sand it will move all over the place until placed back on the rocks. One of my crocea clams is just the opposite it will push off the rocks to get to the sand...They seem to be happy where they are now so I just let them be.

Ya you do, the only one you missed out on was the Gigas, very few people have those, when I first made the thread I didn't even have one to put in there because I can't get a good pic of mine. Honstally I didn't know they were that rare, I thought Squmosa would be the hard one to get a pic of.

Hi Whiskey,
Just read the sticky thread. What would you recommend for a couple/few clams? Are there vendors that you recommend over others?
links to my tank specs, and some current pics are below.
Thanks again,
Dave

Heh, you have the sump I took out. If you mod that Rio to needle-wheel the skimmer works better
I think you can do any of the clams, just be sure to keep the high light clams (Crosea and maxima) right up top. This is a good thing, because now you get to look through pictures and buy what grabs you
I do have one recommendation though, even though the book I have been reading has pretty conclusive evidence that clams under 3" don't need to be fed (I will elaborate on a update to the FAQ when I get done and can site page numbers) I still recommend buying a clam that is at least 2-3 inches, because they seem to be allot more hardy.
I have never bought a clam from a vendor (only LFS), because I don't get to inspect it; however there are some great sponsors here that will treat you right.
Perhaps others have a good vendor in mind?
Glad you liked the FAQ!
