Attaching clams

How do you all attach them? I read in the faq you recommend attaching them to a smaller rock for ease of movement, but how do you do this attachment? Do you put them in a really low flow spot and wait for the bissal (spelled wrong im sure) threads to attach or do you use another method?

For sand clams in a BB system I have the same question, is the base flat enoph to allow them to sit on the bottom without attachment?

yes... i found that they attach easier to a rock that has a crevice in it that they can sit in.. or chisel out a crevis for it to sit in. the threads will attach in no time at all.

Just set it down on a rock where it is stable and cannot fall off and it will take care of the rest in no time.

Do you already have the clam? If so then how about posting a picture of it.

thanks for the info guys.

aquawolf: no, no clams yet, just was considering getting one, but i was unsure how to mount them, i have pretty high flow in the tank so i was worried about it blowing over while its threads are attaching. I guess I could turn the pumps off for a while.

now how about bare bottom placement for clams that like sand? is it the same thing, put it on a rock anyways?

sure in a bare bottom put a small shell under them and then set them on the rockwork they will attach to the shell and then you will be able to move them around if you want to,medium flow is best.Post pics when you get one we all love pics
