another virgin needs help with placement

I just acquired a medium to large clam with an electric blue color around what I call the lips and it doesn't seem to be opening up as much as it should. Not sure what kind it is and have had it in the crushed coral on the bottom of my 29" deep tank with moderate current. I have an Outer Orbit light system,"2x250 Halide15,000k & 4xT5's 54w. Someone told me to move it towards the top and that it should be on a rock base where it wont move it's self or fall in mild to moderate current? Please ring in

a blue clam is likely going to be either a crocea or maxima, both of which are high-light and rock dwelling clams, so moving it up is not a bad idea. But, with the lighting you have, I would think it would do well just about anywhere in the tank. Could you get a picture of it to share? A retracted mantle could be for any number of reasons, but if it's only been in the tank a few days I'd wait a while before passing judgement.

moved it up

Found out it is a Crocea.
The mantle or lips as I call them really don't look to bad, they just don't look as opened up as they probably should. Non the less I have moved it up near the top on a fairly flat rock in moderate current, it is about the only safe place I have room for it in the rock. I hope the extreme change in increased light doesn't freak it out though. I'll try for a picture later if time permits. I do have another Large Clam,
"again unsure of it name" That is light brown with blue and light green spots . It's on the bottom and doing great with the mantle fully expanded. Ring in again

CRVZ, I forgot.
I have a picture of the crocea on the LPS Forum under Elegance Today. Check it out, I don't think that it looks very bad but I do want to give it optimal conditions if possible.

I really dont have any place safe to put the big one, but it is doing quite good at the time with magor mantle action. The Crocea opened up better then ever now that it is at the top. Thanx

I have a 300 watt MH and keep my crocea on my sand bed, with a rock buried under the sand, that day it attached its foot and has been showing FULL mantle extension. Its got decent current not very stong but just enough to move the mantle from time to time.

but over the past couple days its been turning its self not its at an angle but seems to be thriving.
