Another clam question


My squamosa is doing good.... I think I can tell of a small amount of new shell growth but im not sure... its looks like newer shell cause it doesn't have deposits... whats the normal amount that one should grow..

I dont think there is a " normal" I get about an inch a year on mine.

I think it depends on how much you feed them how much light they get etc.... Our clam has grown about a inch and we have only had him for a few months.

I noticed mine has grown one additional scute.. all the way around

the higher your calcium levels, the quicker they build their shells. My calcium level was always low cause of my soft "tap" water, but I have since fixed that. Now, they added 2 scutes in less than 4 months. I now drip kalkwasser as my top off, and dKH is now at an "acceptable level" About an inch or two a year sounds about average.
All this of course, with appropriate additives and lots of light!
